summer break 2011

To start off I am now 24...which totally blows my mind and here's why. I'm one year past the age I would have been had I gone on a mission, and instead of even going on a mission I've been married almost 4 years and have an almost 2 year old. WWWHHHATTT! Someone tell me when adulthood came upon me because it feels like yesterday and Michelle, Kye, Elena and I were heading to Seattle to go see Flogging Molly. When did I become old enough to be teaching women 3 times my age who have been married...ummmm...10 times longer than I have about Eternal Marriage? I don't want to become one of those people who lives in the past but it truly blows my mind sometimes.   Thus is life, constant progression and change. It's good.   We have had a pretty radical summer. Like I said in the past post, it has been outrageously busy! My sisters finally went back to their home states about 2 weeks ago and it's quickly becoming mundane again (but it's kinda nice..sshhh don't tell). Really though it's nice just to not have to drive 1.5 hours everyday to get to my moms house but it's not nice to not be able to have my sisters around whom I consider two of my best friends.

Moving on ...last episode we talked about the beginning of the summer, coming up on this episode? California...and....my birthday I suppose....here goes.

For my birthday Tyler took me up to hike cecret lake and it was BEAUTIFUL! However, I hurt my knee running and the hike was a fairly steady incline and it kinda KILLED me. Here's the view, prepare to be jealous! HA

I know her hair was crazy but I lost the 2nd pony tail I had brought along. They are those clear plastic ones...once lost never seen again.

I can't stand my arm, but just enjoy the beauty!

As we headed back to the car I was talking to Arleigh about how beautiful it was out there and of course led to talking about how our Heavenly Father created it just for us.  I'm amazed at how much I can feel his love just by seeing what he has created for me. I MEAN LOOK AT THIS PLACE! It is spectacular!

Second topic we went to Sacramento! It was pretty great. Tyler's nana wanted to see Arleigh so she paid for our flight out. It was so fun to see her enjoy Arleigh and to have Arleigh meet  Tyler's aunt Laura for the first time.  To me family is the very most important thing to take care of and to be close to, and it was sad to hear Gay (Tyler's nana) talk about not wanting to live too close to her kids in a nursing home so they don't have to be burdened.  I said, "OH SHUT IT! NO WAY! You're their mom! They don't feel burdened!" She didn't believe me, isn't that sad?  I will never feel that way about my family nor do I think they'll feel that way about me.  If you don't live to be with family then what else is there? Jobs? In a job there's always someone better, smarter, younger. No way I'm a family girl and will always be.

Well here's some snipits of the trip, look closely for a surprise!

The giraffes were behind us

For some reason everyone wants to take Arleigh to the zoo...she loves it though!

Alcatraz was behind us

I'm not pregnant my shirt was just poofy! haha

Old sacramento, pretty rad!

Did you spot the surprise? Did you say Tyler got his hair cut? YES YOUR RIGHT! He did! And he gave it to the locks of love.  I couldn't stop looking at him, he looks like a different person! Personally I thought he looked just as good with long hair, but it was pretty stinking long and definitely needed at least a trim.  I hope you enjoyed this visual trip into my summer! Till next time!
